Courageous Soldier Throws Himself On An Explosive To Save A Friend. Here's What He Looks Like 5 Years Later [PHOTOS]

19 year old Marine Corp, William Kyle Carpenter got deployed to Afghanistan 2 years after he was enlisted in the military program. It was there that he showed immense courage, throwing himself on a grenade to save his comrade Lance Corporal Nick Eufrazio.

Of course, the explosion did a lot of damage to his body, but somehow he survived. But that was not the end; he fully recovered and was given a Purple Heart Medal and the highest military honour in USA.

Interestingly, he looks much better now and he even runs marathons to honour other wounded veterans of war. More photos of the stages of recovery below.
