Mom Speaks Out After A Picture Of Her Christmas Tree Was Widely Mocked On Facebook

Meet Emma Tapping, 35 year old mother of three, who considers herself a thrifty shopper. So committed and proud of this lifestyle, she has a blog dedicated money saving tips and resources.

Tapping recently posted a photo of her Christmas tree jam packed with gifts for her three children, which almost exceeded the height of the actual tree. What she thought was a harmless photo sent shockwaves through social media.

Her photo was soon taken from her Instagram and attached with a very condemning message over Facebook. Someone posted the photo with the message:

"It’s nearly time for all the materialistic parents to compete and broadcast how many presents their kids have. Just remember theres are a lot of children who won’t get much."

That photo has now been shared over 100,000 times and counting on Facebook, with comments ranging from shaming Tapping for missing the point of the holidays, to calling her kids 'spoiled brats' to some people defending her choice to post the photo and purchase that many gifts for her children.

The majority of people who commented on the surfacing photo had negative reactions. But there were also some posts in defense of Tappings decision, such as these people.

Tapping decided to respond with a statement addressing all of the claims and scrutiny which have surfaced. Tapping responded by saying her photo was not posted in poor taste. She was not bragging, rather showing people how much they can purchasing by finding deals. Tapping also clarified, the presents were for her whole family, not just her children. In closing, she said she in not going to let any negative press ruin her holidays and is willing to help anyone find bargains and give tips on how to save!
