Dr. Andy Mathis received a call about a starving dog a woman had found on a dirt road, and knew he had to help out. When the woman and dog arrived to his clinic, Dr. Mathis realized the young pup was emaciated, anemic, hypothermic and severe vaginal prolapse.
So I had 2 choices,” Dr. Mathis wrote on Facebook. “I can put her to sleep. Or try to save her. So I asked the universe … also known as Facebook … and the universe said ‘Try.’
The universe even named her as they said, ‘we hate the thought that any pet gets sent to rainbow bridge or passes away without a name,’ so they christened her Graycie Clair. Spelled with a Y for her gray coloring.”
Noticing Graycie had extreme trust issues, he decided to encourage her weight gain by showing her that it was ok to eat the food he gave her. So he steps into her kennel with his breakfast, and begins to eat beside her.
Graycie slowly begins to eat her food from the Dr.'s hand, and continues to do so from her bowl after! She began to put back on the lbs she needed to survive, and is slowly healing from the injuries her previous owners left her in!
